What You'll Do

What You’ll Do:The Student Accounts Officer (SAO) plays an integral role on the Financial Aid team and is the main contact for all Institutional Loan (iLoan) policy matters with current students. The role ensures students meet iLoan repayment requirements, applies progression rules tied to delinquency status, and interprets policy in partnership with campus leadership. It also oversees compliance with private loan repayment requirements for enrolled students and communicates federal loan repayment expectations to graduates. The SAO collaborates with Admissions and Academic departments to ensure students clearly understand their financial obligations as well.

Essential Functions

  • Manage a designated caseload of students with active iLoans.• Monitor accounts proactively to identify potential delinquency.• Reach out to students who miss payments or become past due.• Meet with students who are past due and create individualized actions plans to regain good standing. • Document all student interactions, agreements, and action plans. • Track each student’s progress toward repayment compliance and eligibility for academic progression.• Partner with Campus Presidents and Deans to escalate issues with students who fail to adhere to iLoan policies.• Act as a liaison for students submitting hardship requests and financial appeals and oversee the process from start to completion.• Serve as a subject matter expert with iLoans, ensuring consistent messaging regarding policy interpretation and key updates. • Participate in meetings regarding delinquency and provide regular reporting to leadership.• Provide support as needed within the Financial Aid team.

What We Need From You

To perform this job successfully, an applicant must have professional demeanor, the ability to work independently, understand goals and deadlines and possess excellent communication and organizational skills.

Must Have

  • Associate’s degree and/or equivalent work experience. • 1-3 years of experience in higher education student accounts, financial aid, accounts receivable, collections or student services.• Proficiency in Excel and other MS Office programs. • Detail-focused with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.• Strong customer service orientation with a genuine passion for helping others.• Excellent communication skills- both written and verbal.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s degree.• Prior experience with nursing school billing, lab fees and third-party sponsorship. • An understanding of financial literacy principles and student loan repayment options.
