POSITION DETAILS
The ASAP|ACE Financial Aid Specialist reports to the Director of ACE and Director of Financial Aid. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Coordinator:
- Provides training to program staff on how to interpret and use financial aid data, queries, and reports
- Serves as the direct resource for program staff on all financial aid related issues including: escalated matters of priority along with providing timely responses, updates, analyses and reports
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves packaging, FA awards and tuition and fee gap scholarships by verifying student eligibility and reviewing disbursements
- Uses query tools and software such as Microsoft Excel and CUNYfirst to report and analyze financial aid packaging plans, monitor scholarships, and track disbursements and balances
- Represents Lehman College at ASAP|ACE FA required meetings and other program initiatives as needed in collaboration with college partners
- Performs verification of federal financial aid files for ASAP students who are selected for verification by the US Department of Education and makes corrections as needed in accordance with federal student aid regulations to finalize financial aid awards
- Provides in-person financial aid counseling to ACE students and parents regarding all aspects of federal, state, institutional financial aid processes by reviewing the family’s specific financial need and provide financial aid and other financing options
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree
- Related experience in Financial Aid
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- CUNYFirst experience
- Experience working to support and guide students
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Coordinates financial aid procedures and activities and provides financial aid information.
- Schedules workshops, reviews applications, establishes pay cycles, disburses funds and resolves disbursement problems, and records awards, disbursements and returns
- Coordinates, verifies and resolves problems regarding the disbursement of scholarships and grants by verifying student eligibility, establishing pay cycles and reviewing pay-outs
- Reconciles accounting and disbursement schedules
- Provides data for financial aid and donor reports as needed
- Supports the College's enrollment management efforts by providing financial aid information to prospective students, their families and their high school counselors
- Serves as liaison between the college and direct loan providers
- Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary commensurate with education and experience, $63,003 - $68,668.
