Dominican University New York is currently seeking an Associate Director of Student Financial Services Compliance that provides leadership and oversight to ensure institutional compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations governing financial aid and student accounts. Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of Student Financial Services, this role is both strategic and operational. They would be responsible not only for regulatory oversight but also for hands-on review of awarding, reconciliation, reporting, and policy implementation. The Associate Director serves as a key compliance resource to senior leadership and collaborates closely with Admissions, Finance Offices, Registrar, and IT. The role ensure compliance with Title IV regulations under the U.S. Department of Education, oversee state grant compliance (e.g., TAP or other state programs, as applicable). They will monitor regulatory updates, including Federal Register announcements and Dear Colleague Letters, and implement procedural changes. They will maintain and annually update the Financial Aid Policies & Procedures Manual and ensure consumer information disclosures are accurate and published timely.

Required: Bachelor’s degree in related field. Excellent computer skills, strong experience in either financial aid or student accounts; experience with integrated LMS and/or financial aid packaging systems; demonstrated supervisory and team building skills; strong analytical and problem-solving ability. Experience with Jenzabar and PowerFAIDS preferred. Bilingual a plus. Certification through NAFAA Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve financial aid awarding to ensure regulatory accuracy.
  • Oversee Return to Title IV (R2T4) calculations and post-withdrawal disbursements.
  • Monitor satisfactory academic progress (SAP) calculations and appeals.
  • Conduct regular file reviews for verification accuracy and documentation standards.
  • Ensure compliance with professional judgment documentation and special circumstance determinations.
  • Perform and/or oversee monthly reconciliation of:
  • Pell Grants
  • Direct Loans
  • Campus-based funds
  • Ensure accurate reporting to COD and NSLDS.
  • Monitor cash management practices to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
  • Prepare documentation and responses to audit findings.
  • Develop corrective action plans and monitor follow-through.
  • Conduct internal compliance reviews to proactively identify risk areas.
  • Oversee compliance-related configurations in the Student Information System (SIS).
  • Review system updates impacting awarding logic, enrollment reporting, and disbursement schedules prior to implementation.
  • Partner with IT to ensure changes impacting financial aid data are vetted through compliance review before launch.
  • Ensure appropriate data governance, access controls, and separation of duties within SFS operations.
  • Provide compliance training to SFS staff and campus partners.
  • Advise Admissions regarding packaging policies and scholarship coordination.
  • Collaborate with Registrar on enrollment reporting and withdrawal processing.
  • Serve as compliance advisor to senior leadership regarding regulatory risk exposure.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $85,000
