Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Financial Aid Counselor to join our education administration team. This role is vital in assisting students and families navigate the financial aid process, ensuring they receive the support necessary to pursue their educational goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a solid understanding of financial services, and experience with various administrative systems. Duties
- Provide personalized guidance to students regarding financial aid options, application procedures, and eligibility requirements.
- Assist students with loan processing, including disbursements and repayment options.
- Manage and verify financial data using systems such as Ellucian, PeopleSoft, and other financial software platforms.
- Conduct financial analysis to determine student eligibility for various aid programs.
- Educate students on accounting principles related to financial aid and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Process applications accurately and efficiently while maintaining detailed records of all transactions.
- Collaborate with education administration staff to coordinate financial aid activities and resolve issues promptly.
- Stay informed about updates in financial aid policies, regulations, and software tools to provide accurate information.
- Support outreach efforts by communicating complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in financial services, loan processing, or education administration preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting, financial analysis, and relevant software.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
- Solid understanding of mathematics as it relates to financial calculations and analysis.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Prior experience in financial aid or related fields is desirable but not required; relevant training will be provided for qualified candidates interested in developing expertise in this area. Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.01 - $32.53 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
