National Polytechnic College has an immediate opening for a highly motivated, results-oriented Financial Senior Aid Officer to work at our Lakewood, CA campus. This position will be responsible for packaging students for Title IV funding.

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for all activities related to Financial Aid services, which includes but is not limited to; Provides financial aid counseling for prospective and returning students, packages federal aid, and calculate: PELL, SEOG, and other source certify loans; monitor student academic progress and eligibility for fund disbursement and resolves federal edits, including citizenship, resolves issues related to discrepancy reports, etc.
  • Assists with the production of annual financial aid reports, participates in the annual pre-audit procedure, coordinates entrance and exit interviews with borrower, and performs refund calculation.
  • Review all Title IV paperwork with students to ensure their understanding. Review tax documents, financial aid paperwork for completeness and accuracy. Reviews applications selected for verification.
  • Report status of packaging to Campus Director and Director of Operations weekly.
  • Continually acknowledge students throughout their program for retention and timely payments.
  • Assist with default management.
  • Assist Fiscal Department to Follow-up with students who have credit account balances.
  • Maintain a professional and administrative/ staff and student relationship at all times.
  • Keep up to date and current with FSA compliance regulations to keep abreast of new changes in federal/state laws, rules and procedures.
  • Report any and all incidents of non – compliance with school rules, policies, and regulations by students to the Director of Operations immediately. The same applies to incidents involving staff members or instructors.
  • Attend all workshops or seminars pertaining to the job description in order to learn new techniques or meet standard guidelines.
  • Must have leadership skills to oversee financial aid team. This includes reviews, action plans, training as needed and team overall goals are met.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Must have a least 2 years experience in financial aid for postsecondary school/college
  • Knowledge in Cal Grants and Funding
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, NSLDS, and have third-party database experience (preferably RGM)
  • Professional, team player, excellent communication skills
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) a plus

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $29.00 per hour
