
Experteer Overview
In this role you drive the administration and integrity of the college’s financial aid programs to support student access and timely funding. You will coordinate state and federal aid systems, ensuring accurate awards and compliance within NYS and CUNY standards. You’ll partner with Admissions, Registrar, Bursar, and other offices to align aid with enrollment, transfers, and degree requirements. Your work will empower students, especially from diverse backgrounds, to progress toward degree completion and career readiness. This position offers a meaningful impact on student success and institutional reporting, with opportunities to lead process improvements in financial aid delivery.
Compensation / Benefits
- Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot federal, NYS, and CUNY financial aid systems to ensure data integrity and timely fund delivery
- Notify students of aid requirements to maintain eligibility for NYS aid programs (e.g., TAP, Part-Time TAP, Excelsior, TAP Workforce)
- Provide program updates and conduct staff training on state aid eligibility
- Advise students on academic appeal and waiver processes per state aid progress standards
- Verify enrollment, payments, and transfer credits; ensure courses apply to the student’s major
- Collaborate with Testing, Admissions, Registrar to verify credentials, residency, and tuition charges
- Coordinate with Veterans Certifying Officer and Bursar to ensure correct posting of state aid and avoid duplicate awards
- Ensure staff comply with NYS HESC policies and procedures
- Process monthly HESC award rosters and prepare end-of-term reports
- Provide regular reports to supervisor and colleagues; assist in CUNY Internal Audits; respond to inquiries from CUNY, NYS, and campus community
Tasks
- Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience
- strong knowledge of NY State aid programs and system processes
- familiarity with CUNYFirst and related financial aid systems (preferred)
- proficient in Microsoft Suite (preferred)
- excellent oral and written communication skills
