Position Summary

Assumes responsibility for counseling and advising student and their families on financial aid programs and opportunities. In all actions, adheres to federal and state laws as they relate to financial aid administration, rules and regulations governing University, America East and the NCAA, including assisting in the education process extended to alumni and the community. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.

Hiring Range

Budgeted hourly rate is $18.60 to 22.64, depending upon experience

Key Responsibilities

Delivering on the commitment of top quality customer service, builds rapport by offering accurate information and effective solutions to students, their families and other influencers which outline a plan for paying for college. Acts as a first point of contact for students and families. Assists students and parents in navigating the financial aid process, providing guidance on the proper forms required to apply for financial aid as well as apprising them of any changes to existing resources. Fields financial aid inquiries, gathering necessary background information to expedite follow-up in a timely manner.

Collects, reviews and evaluates the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and required supporting documentation in order to determine eligibility for federal, state and/or University-funded financial aid programs. Manages document imaging process and ensures accurate completion of all financial aid files. May also work to improve how data system handles this process. Performs needs analysis and verification in accordance with federal regulations and University policy.

Establishes, cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with both internal and external constituencies. Processes PLUS and alternate loans, post scholarships and other forms of financial aid from outside entities. Proactively analyzes eligibility criteria and appropriate distributions.

Assists the Office of Admission at various on-campus recruitment functions. Develops and maintains on-campus outreach programs for students, families and the community regarding financial aid.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
