TITLE: Director of Financial Assistance
LOCATION: 4255 S Nature Center Way, Springfield, MO 65804
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Financial Assistance is responsible for monitoring and maintaining all functions of the financial aid department.
POSITION RESPONSIBILTIES
- Maintain, update, and enforce all written policies and procedures in accordance with Federal Title IV, accrediting body, state, and institutional regulations.
- Assist in hiring process and conduct training for all Financial Assistance personnel.
- Verify and approve refunds for withdrawn students.
- Verify drop paperwork.
- Verify all financial aid appointments.
- Develop Cost of Attendance and update paperwork yearly.
- Review Institutional Student Information Records (ISIR) for compliance prior to disbursement (C codes have been checked and properly taken care of).
- Review National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS) information received with ISIRs.
- Check applicants’ verification for accuracy.
- Maintain drop-processing log.
- Organize and monitor the institution’s debt management program. Goal is to maintain a
cohort default rate of less than 10% annually.
- Verify Student Status Confirmation Report and submit.
- Serve as a back-up for all financial assistance duties.
- Perform USDE yearly Federal Pell Closeout
- Perform both announced and unannounced file audits.
- Attend all meetings, in-service activities, and training, on campus and off-site locations.
- Analyze, approve, and recommend professional development for all staff in the department.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Three to Five years’ experience in the Financial Aid field.
- Sense of integrity and ability to get along with others.
- Ability to manage rapidly changing priorities and opportunities.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, analytical talent and attention to detail.
- Fluency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint.

Reports to: President / CEO

ENVIRONMENT
This position is set in an academic environment portraying professionalism. This is a highly visible position encompassed with financial responsibility. Assignment may require lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, and employee must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend, squat, push and pull.
