STATUS: Full-time, Exempt

RANGE: $85,000 – $95,000

Founded in 1901, Brooklyn Law School is a distinguished,

independent law school located in Downtown Brooklyn, New York. The

Law School is searching for an Associate Director of Financial Aid

to join our team. The Law School’s size, vibrant employee and

student population, and commitment to training the next generation

of lawyers and promoting social justice, will offer a candidate the

opportunity to develop and diversify practical skills and

participate firsthand in operating a successful educational

institution.

Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, the Associate

Director of Financial Aid will play a role in managing financial

aid operations, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, and

optimizing scholarship awarding processes. This role plays a

crucial part in supporting student access to education through

effective financial aid management.

Responsibilities include

Manage the Office of Financial Aid,

including a team of two employees in the absence of the Director of

Financial Aid.Represent the Office of Financial Aid in

Administrative meetings in the absence of the Director of Financial

Aid. Oversee and facilitate the FWS/Public Service Grants

program. Manage FWS/Public Service Grants ensuring compliance

with all regulations in collaboration with the Director of

Financial Aid.Build relationships with Career Services and Public

Interest Law Center to promote FWS/PSG employment

opportunities. Oversee the BLS LRAP Program.Manage the

awarding of the Yellow Ribbon program recipients in collaboration

with Registrar. Conduct Loan repayment and debt management

workshops in partnership with AccessLex. Manage outside

scholarships, including building partnerships with

AccessLex.Oversee update of BLS Connect Financial Aid PSG/FWS,

Yellow Ribbon and AccessLex pages. Manage the weekly Financial

Aid disbursement process to ensure awards are reconciled with

DOE/COD SAS Report.Oversee Direct Loan Default Management program

in collaboration with the Director of Financial Aid and

Specialist.Coordinate and facilitate financial aid eligibility for

Study Abroad Programs, Exchange, Dual Degree, and consortium

agreements.Collaborate and coordinate with the Director of

Financial Aid in providing request for information during

independent annual audits or DOE audits.

Required

A bachelor’s degree is

required. At least 5 years of experience in financial aid

administration, ideally at the graduate or professional level

within an educational institution.Familiarity with Department of

Education regulations and financial aid compliance.Familiarity with

budgeting and reporting to federal, state, and accrediting

authorities.Familiarity with campus student information systems,

Colleague is preferred.Strong communication, customer service,

organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Must be an

eager learner, extremely detail-oriented, accurate, and

organized.Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel,

Outlook).

Preferred

Experience in a higher education

setting is preferred.Knowledge of admissions processes and

procedures is preferred.

Remote capabilities

This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule.

Travel

Some travel may be required.
