Department Information
University Enrollment Services (UES) supports the academic and student services missions of Indiana University (IU) by developing, coordinating, and managing university-wide shared services in the areas of admissions and transfer operations, financial aid, student records and data management, and military and veteran affairs. UES works closely with campus-based partners to enhance customer service; implement best practices; drive student-related technology development; comply with federal, state, and institutional guidelines; and support their overall enrollment and retention goals. This team uses data to identify new opportunities and to prioritize work, which drives innovation and creates efficiency across the University.
Job Summary
General Responsibilities
- Contributes on senior leadership teams to formulate strategic planning and the highest-level operational objectives for financial aid/scholarships areas.
- Establishes long-term business plans and long-term strategic objectives.
- Directs leadership staff who provide supervision to financial aid/scholarships teams.
- Responsible for escalated operational issues, including human resources and/or people management situations.
- Drives innovation and excellence within the area of financial aid/scholarships; reviews and creates policies and procedures.
- Determines overall budget for financial aid/scholarships teams; reviews and approves financial proposals from direct reporting leaders; has significant fiscal responsibilities that require frequent interaction with executive leaders.
- Provides expertise and identifies grant and/or funding opportunities; develops business relationships across the university and externally.
- Stays up-to-date on new financial aid/scholarships standards, technologies, policies, and procedures and works collaboratively with other financial aid/scholarships leaders across departments and/or campuses in determining standards, best practices, and related policies/procedures; ensures the adoption and implementation by direct reporting leaders.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Drives continuous improvement and modernization of financial aid for campus partners.
- Oversees Financial Aid systems, operations and special programs.
- Leads the development and improvement of financial aid across multiple specialty teams.
- Acts as a resource for campuses, internal staff, and external partners for financial aid.
- Leads proactive identification of operational, system and programmatic challenges.
- Identifies problems both internally and externally and works with staff to identify and implement solutions.
- Establishes long-term business plans and long-term strategic objectives.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree in business, public policy, or related field
Preferred
- Master's degree higher education student affairs or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- 5 years in student services, enrollment management, higher education student affairs, or related field
- 3 years of management experience in relevant field

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
