APPOINTMENT: Full Time, Unlimited

SALARY RANGE: $25.67 – $37.26/hour ($53,599 – 77,799 annual)

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for developing extensive and accurate knowledge of all federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs and processes in order to serve as a key resource for students, parents, staff, and agencies. The role advises individuals on detailed financial aid matters—including FAFSA completion, tracking requirements, packaging of financial aid offers, disbursement, and reconciliation—while ensuring information is accurate and tailored to each student’s situation. The position also supports the processing and administration of major financial aid programs, including federal grants and loans, Minnesota state programs, and institutional aid.

In addition to Financial Aid advising and program processing, this position contributes significantly to the administration of student employment programs by determining eligibility, completing required documentation, coordinating job postings with campus and community partners, reconciling funds, and serving as a primary contact for supervisors regarding scheduling, performance, and other personnel-related matters. The role also supports daily office operations by managing incoming mail, email, phone calls, in-person inquiries, document processing, and correspondence. Additional duties may be assigned to ensure smooth departmental operations and to support the college’s overall commitment to student success.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of progressively responsible work experience in a financial, business, or educational setting.
  • An AA, AS or AAS degree in a relevant field, such as accounting, business management, finance, administrative assistant/office management, would substitute for six months of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field, such as accounting, business management, finance, etc.
  • Knowledge of data practices and FERPA policies and laws.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations and ability to research, interpret, and apply the regulations to practices in the financial aid department.
  • Experience using ISRS (Integrated Student Registration System) and Department of Education software (if applicable).
  • Ability to multi task, prioritize, work under pressure and meet deadlines to comply with regulatory standards.
  • Demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written) to maintain positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues; strong conflict resolution skills a must.
